About This Course

Learn to identify the hazard of confined spaces and the precautions required for the safety of the workers and public. 

Instructions

  • You will have 5 days to complete this course from date of registration.
  • After 5 calendar days your course will be cancelled 
  • All exams need to be completed within the time frame given
  • You are entitled to 3 attempts to re-write your Summative Assessment (Exam) if found Not Competent
  • IF YOU ARE FOUND SKIPPING THE COURSE BY CLICKING THE COMPLETE BUTTON YOU WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY DISQUALIFIED.
  • After completing the Summative Assessment (Exam) will be evaluated by an assessor.
  • You will then be Redirected to the course where you will be able to download your certificate.

PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD
Learners who are assessed as competent against this unit standard will be able to identify the hazard of confined spaces and the precautions required for the safety of the workers and public. 

This unit standard underpins the Elective Learning. 

It contributes to the development of a professional community of Construction workers. The contribution to The National Skills Development Strategy is the key development interface between learners and new competencies to be achieved. 

Its contribution to socio-economic transformation is that learners would be able to undergo RPL-assessment and thereby received recognition for previous learning and experience. The employability and career prospects of learners can therefore be enhanced by the qualification. 

Learning Objectives

Hazards associated with working in confined areas.
Protective clothing and their use in confined areas.
The relevant Occupational Health and Safety requirements for working in confined areas.
Training requirements to sensitize unskilled workers and train them on how to work in confined areas.
Elements to include in an emergency action plan as well as the required resources.

  • ABET Level 4 Literacy
  • ABET Level 3 Numeracy

Target Audience

  • All candidates whose work-related activities involve the management and control of safety, risks, audits, incident costs, environmental aspects, legislation, quality control and confined spaces work programmes.
